What’s New

Website Overhaul
I’m still in the midst of this project, but it’s time to put some of it up. The first big change is the splash movie——movies, actually. Everytime you load the default website page (or hit the Joe the Juggler logo during a movie or above the menu at left), you get a vector-based movie randomly chosen from 10 different juggling patterns.
The movies are done in Flash, so you’ll need a fairly current version of the Shockwave Flash Player plug-in to see them in your browser. The nice thing about them is that since they”re vector based (rather than raster or bitmap based), they’re scalable to any size monitor and they’re relatively small files for quick downloading. (A regular mpeg that would fill a 1280 X 1024 monitor, for example, would be humongous and take forever to download.)

The photo gallery isn’t ready yet, though. So for now, you’ll just get 404 document not found errors. Eventually, there will be some slick cgi script interface for viewing tons of pictures. (A similar project is on the site I designed for the Missouri Zen Center.)

Electro Luminescent Props
I have just completed building a set of EL clubs to go with the Glo-Balls I already had. The clubs use a phosphor-coated wire technology and the Glo-Balls use LEDs. See them now.

Competition Winner
Joe the Juggler won the Juggling Competition at Union Station this year (Saturday, August 11, 2001). It's listed on the Experience page.

Cigar Box Construction
I have added Cigar Box Construction instructions to the Workshops Page. Build your own!

Website Facelift
I gave the website an overhaul: did away with the Spanish version (since I’m no longer living in Quito), added several new menu items, updated some Links, updated the Contact page, and put up a couple of new photos (one on the Home page and one on the Act page. Added pages include my Brief Bio—just some of the copy that’s in my most recent brochure and the Workshops page where you will be able to find some animated juggling tutorials—so far there’s only a Mill’s Mess tutorial.
